Leasing Office Space - Is It Your Smartest Move?

When the time comes to move your business to a new area or upgrade to a bigger office space, there are a lot of options to consider. First, of course, you have to decide just how much space you’re going to need, especially if your company is quickly growing. A good rule of thumb is to allow at least 150-250 square feet of space for each employee.

Once you know your size requirements, a big step is deciding whether to buy a new building, or simply lease your office space. Both options have their ups and downs and will take research to make an educated decision. Any decision that could affect your business is a big one, so be sure to take your time and educate yourself on leasing and buying before you decide.

Owning your own office space gives you tax deductions (because of property taxes and mortgage interest) and gives you the freedom to do what you want with the space. You won’t have to worry about a landlord, or breaking anyone’s rules but your own (and of course, the law). Once you sign the contract, it’s all yous, and with a mortgage you have a fixed cost in place.

Buying does have some difficulties associated with it though. You have to be responsible for a big down payment, as well as office equipment, utilities, internet and phone and much more. Your upfront costs include the down payment as well as any moderations that must be done to the building to suit your wants and needs. Also, a sale is final - if you outgrow the building within a year, you’re still stuck with it.

Leasing office space, on the other hand, allows you the flexibility of moving when the situation calls for it, whether your company is growing or you wish to remain small. For business owners looking to keep their costs down, renting your own office space has much less initial cost associated with it when compared to buying. You simply pay a set fee per month and most any service you need is rolled into the payment.

It can also cause much less stress on business owners since you don’t have to worry about the everyday management of a building. If you’re leasing, the landlord is responsible for making sure you’ve got electricity, heat, internet connection; pretty much anything you might need. By leasing, you may also be able to afford somewhere nicer than you thought possible.

Since location can really help or harm a business, it’s definitely an important consideration. A beautiful building in a high-traffic area can easily drive new customers your way. A run down building in the middle of nowhere probably won’t do much for you. The only problem is price - when you’re leasing, the fancier the office, the higher the price and your rent can often go up. So always make sure you read all parts of your contract closely.

The main thing is to make sure you put the time and research necessary into the decision on whether to lease or buy your new office space. - Wheat Celosia - This flower doesn’t like cold soil and it doesn’t like cold water. Basically, you have to keep it in the sun. It grows to anywhere between 2 and 4 feet and comes in pink, purple, or red.

- Amaranth - These can actually grow to be anywhere from 18 inches to 6 feet tall. Ground planters may be ideal for these or they can make a great hanging basket from the doorway of your metal storage shed. They come in orange, gold, green, purple, and orange. They do not like to be transplanted and they hate wet soil and shade.

These are just a few examples of what to use. Regular potting soil that uses the specifications listed above are great. For example: If a flower hates wet soil, then it is perhaps not a good idea to buy a moisture lock soil. You also don’t want to use planters such as metal or dark colored planters. Planters of those colors can actually make it too hot.

Gardens

You can always plant flower gardens around your metal storage shed in addition to planters. The combination looks very nice. You can till up the ground and use a fertilizer that works well with such flowers and can invest in some potting soil to provide adequate nutrients to the flowers. Here are some flowers to consider:

- Celestial Blue - This flower survives heat and drought. It has pink, purple, or violet blooms that butterflies cannot resist.

- California Juniper Shrub - Shrubs are great to add to a flower garden and this shrub is not an exception. It is both heat and drought resistant. You do, however, want to make sure this is planted into the actual ground and not into store bought soil.

- The Blackfoot - This one is native to Florida and is known to withstand soil conditions that are less than perfect. It is also beautiful and easy to take care of.

So if you need to make your metal storage shed look a little more exciting, this is a great way to do it. Sure, it may not look in the winter as it would in the summer, but a few shrubs can help with that. It is up to you how you do it and what’s even better is that you can be creative.

Making a Website Search Engine Friendly

Most companies have embraced the technology of the internet are have a website detailing all their products and services. Having worked for a domain company for a number of years which also offer web design it never ceases to amaze me how many people phone us up complaining that their website is not coming up in the search engines. We offer web design at an affordable price and each site is built using the clients’ specification not with search engines in mind. Most web design companies are the same; they build a site with your specification and text. If you want a site that is search engine friendly this needs to be stated at the start, although the price will go up considerably. Also you can’t say you want this and that and also be search engine friendly. Generally what our web design customers want are not the same as what search engines want.

Search engines want text rich site with a simple clear navigation. A website built entirely in flash may look pretty impressive but it will not function at all in the search engines. Search engines are text analysis systems which can only read text. Unless your web pages have plenty of text the search engines will not think your site is relevant to list it high in their search engine result pages (SERP’s). If you have a page with say 50 words but another site of the same subject has over 200 words, Google will rank the latter much higher up because it believes it is more relevant than the page of just 50 words. As well as rich text you also need links from other sites linking to your site. This is giving you a vote and the more votes you have from relevant websites the higher you will get ranked. Sometimes pages that are number 1 have very little text but have a huge amount of link popularity hence why Google places them at the top position. Unless your site has lots of sites linking to your site, you will need good copy on your page. The text on your page needs to have the keywords you are targeting. There is no point having a page about ‘dog food’ without the words ‘dog food’ written a few times. Search engines do not know that Pedigree Chum or Iams are different types of dog food. They match the keywords’ you put into the search engine with relevant pages which contain those specific words.

SEO or Search Engine Optimisation is the process of optimising a website for the search engines. This could include re-writing the text on each page as well as creating a better navigation that the search engine spiders can navigate well to find all the pages on your site. There is not one SEO Company that can guarantee high search engine placements as know one knows what tomorrow will bring. The same can be said of stock brokers as they cannot guarantee that a stock will rise. Or you could liken the process to a football game; you cannot guarantee who will win. If you are guaranteed a top placement by your SEO specialist, the guarantee is false and you should stay well away. No search engine optimisation company can guarantee results the search engine algorithms can change unexpectedly. A professional SEO specialist will be able to give you a rough idea but no guarantees’. For example, I could do a bit of research for a client who wants to be found under the search phrase ‘vehicle leasing’. When you do a search for those terms there are only just over 750,000 results which could appear to not be that competitive. I have got pages on the front page with over 20 million results in a matter of a couple of months. What this could mean is that the 20 million results were websites that were not that well optimised and with my skills getting on the front page is easy. However with ‘vehicle leasing’ the 750, 000 pages that already exist could have had years of optimisation work done on them with years of link building to build up the trust in their site which means no site has got a chance. Also you don’t know what other companies are planning. Maybe a new Vehicle leasing company with a huge marketing budget of 20 thousand a year might be working on their site. If I am only working on your site for one day a week I will not be able to compete with the companies with a huge budget, and 40 hours of SEO work.

History Customs of Halloween

Have you ever questioned why on earth we celebrate Halloween and where the idea came from? If you are like most of us, you simply enjoy the fun and games, and of course treats, and haven’t really given the roots of the holiday much thought. But the history of Halloween is a truly cool story in its own right.

Very Far back in the day, about 2000 or so years ago, there lived a people known as Celts. They inhabited the area we call Ireland, and there were also some in France and the UK, too. In fact, the oral communication that is spoken in Ireland is not Irish, as you may think. It is Celtic.

Anyway, the Celtic people had a dissimilar New Year’s Day than we do here nowadays. Their new year began on November 1st; this is plausibly because November marked the end of the bountiful, glorious, harvest time of year and the start of the cold, dark winter. Therefore, it seems like a perfect time for branding a new year, right?

So, the Celtic people had a theory that their New Year’s Eve, October 31, was the night when there was the perfect chance for the spooks of dead people to return to earth, and so the worlds of the living and the dead joined for a night. On this night, the Celtic people turned to their Druid priests for insight into what was to come in the New Year. And some theories of the history of Halloween include the priests’ power to recognize the future by determining it from the dead who came back to earth.

So, the early version of Halloween, called SamHain (”sow-in”), was born. The Celts ordinarily built these vast bonfires and dressed up in the skins of animals. They assembled around the bonfires in these “costumes” and sacrificed a small amount of their crops and animals to the Celtic gods in the hopes that the gods would be just to them in the coming year.

Later, the Romans overran Ireland and the other Celtic lands, and they bestowed their own twist into what we now recognize as Halloween; subsequently the history of Halloween was changed a bit. They added a couple things into SamHain. First, they added a day called Faralia, which was a day the Romans had set aside as a day to recollect and honor those who had died before us. Then, they also included a day to delight Pomona, a goddess whose symbolic representation is the apple. Remember those days of bobbing for apples as a kid? You can thank Pomona for that tradition.

Then, Christianity came to the area, around the 800s. The Pope at the time, Pope Bonaface, declared November 1st All Saint’s Day, which is still renowned as a Holy Day by the Catholic Church. The Church often times attempted to replace pagan holidays with related holidays in order to placate the pagan people who wanted festivals, but also to make Christian-based celebrations.
